Seared Tuna on Homemade Guacamole

Yes! Another seared tuna dish. They’re so simple, easy, full of flavor, and healthy for you. All you have to do is find the right flavors to combine the tuna with and you’re all set!

As I may have mentioned this before, I love avocados. What better way to enjoy an avocado than in homemade guacamole? Well, topped with some seared tuna of course!

I personally find that the tanginess and creaminess of the guacamole complements the tuna.

Here is a quick recap on how I make my seared tuna:

  • I use a tuna steak
  • Season both sides with salt and pepper
  • Preheat the pan
  • Place your tuna steak in the pan
  • Sear both the top and the bottom of the tuna (I wait until at least 1-2 mm are cooked on the side to make sure the surface is seared and the inside is still raw)
  • Carefully sear each of the remaining sides for a couple of seconds without breaking your tuna
  • Once you are done, place your tuna on a clean cutting board
  • Use a straight edge knife to cut your tuna; this will help you keep your slices nice and uniform

For the guacamole:

Ingredients:

  • 1 Avocado
  • 1/2 Lemon squeezed
  • Green Tabasco
  • 1 Small tomato diced
  • Chopped cilantro
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Preparation:

  • Mash your avocado in a bowl
  • Mix in the lemon, green tabasco, salt, and pepper
  • Add the tomatoes and the cilantro and mix slowly being careful not to crush the tomatoes

For the final presentation of your overall dish, you want to place the guacamole you just freshly made in the center of a plate. Then you want to slowly place your seared tuna pieces to resemble tumbled dominoes so that both the seared and pink sides will show. Lastly, sprinkle some ground pepper and salt over your dish and serve.

Bon appétit!
