Goat Cheese and Avo – The Epidemic

Instagram, Pinterest, blogs about food, you name it. Looking up food and recipes is actually my favorite pass-time, I can literally spend hours doing just that.

Over the last couple of months I’ve been browsing the web for new things to try, Avocado toast has been quite popular – I mean, who doesn’t love avocado?

Not only are avocados delicious, they are nutritious, high in protein, they are loaded with healthy fats and fiber, they can lower cholesterol, and they help you keep your weight in check. Personally, I try to eat avocados regularly because they’re good for you and they’re delicious. With this, I have always wanted to try avocado and goat cheese toast. The combination was always interesting to be because both goat cheese spread and avocados are quite creamy. I always wondered if the combination would be overwhelming in the sense that the creaminess would override all of the flavors. But just assuming how something will taste will not do, so I finally got around to trying it for myself.

Note: Neither did I use toast, nor was my avocado mash plain. I used wheat crackers and added some ingredients to my avocado.

The result was extremely pleasant. The avocado mixture I use had a kick and a tang that contrasted perfectly with the creaminess that both the avocado itself and the goat cheese brought to the combination. Honestly, if I did not add the things I did to the avocado mash I would have probably disliked the combination.

Now, it’s your turn to try it for yourself…

Ingredients:

  • Whole Wheat Crackers (or toast)
  • Goat cheese spread
  • 1 Avocado
  • Half a lemon squeezed
  • Green Tabasco
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Preparation:

  • Mash the avocado in a bowl
  • Add the lemon juice, a few drops of green tabasco, salt, and pepper
  • Mix well
  • Spread your goat cheese on your cracker (or toast)
  • Spread the avocado mixture on top of the goat cheese
  • Sprinkle on some more pepper and salt

Easy, simple, delicious, and nutritious. This was the perfect start to my day! I look forward to having more of these for breakfast, brunch, or even snacks!

Bon appétit!
