Do you have those days where you crave food but you aren’t in the mood to go to the supermarket or order in? I know I do – all the time.
This time I was craving pizza but I wanted something interesting and decided to resort to my favorite pass-time; Pinterest. All of the dough recipes called for yeast and I did not feel like going to the supermarket to get some. I stumbled upon a flatbread recipe that, to my surprise, did not require any yeast and jumped at the opportunity.
Ingredients:
- 1 3/4 cups plain flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/3 cup olive oil
- Pesto Gouda
- Goat Cheese
- Tomatoes
- Avocado
- Parmesan
- Zaartar
- Balsamic Vinegar
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 230°C/450°F
- Sift flour into a medium bowl
- Add baking powder and salt.
- Make a well in center, then add water and oil and stir with a wooden spoon to form dough.
- Knead dough gently on a clean work surface until you have a nice ball (doesn’t require much kneading).
- Roll dough on a sheet of baking paper until the dough is thin and in a shape you like.
- Brush the top with extra oil and sprinkle zaartar all over it. (Be very generous)
- Lay on your sliced tomatoes and sliced avocado.
- Grate your pesto gouda all over the flatbread.
- Break apart the goat cheese and sprinkle over your flatbread.
- Drizzle your balsamic vinegar all over your flatbread.
- Gently lift your baking paper and dough onto your pre-heated baking sheet and pop in the oven until golden.
- Sprinkle your parmesan cheese over the flatbread and serve.
**You don’t need to use the same toppings. Be creative, try switching up the toppings! Make this recipe your own.
